    Introduction If you are planning to visit Ethiopia to attend an international conference, workshop, or seminar, you will need to apply for a Workshop/Conference Visa (CV). This visa allows entry for events organized by government bodies, educational institutions, the United Nations, the African Union, and other recognized organizations.

    Requirements To apply for the Workshop/Conference Visa, ensure you have the following:

    • A recent passport-size photo and a copy of your passport.
    • A passport valid for at least six months from your intended entry date to Ethiopia.
    • An invitation letter specifying the conference details (name, start date, end date, and venue).

    Additional Requirements Based on Inviting Organization:

    Inviting Company Category Description Required Documents
    Private Legally registered private companies in Ethiopia. - Application letter from the inviting company to the Immigration and Citizenship Service of Ethiopia.
    - Renewed business license of the inviting company.
    - Renewed Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) certificate.
    Governmental (Ethiopian) Ministries, departments, or educational institutions of the Ethiopian government. - Application letter from the inviting government entity to the Immigration and Citizenship Service of Ethiopia.
    NGO Registered non-governmental organizations in Ethiopia. - Application letter from the inviting NGO.
    - Registration license of the NGO.
    International Organizations Entities like the UN or African Union. - Application letter from the organization to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia.
    - Note Verbal (support letter) from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

    Important Note: The invitation letter must provide a brief description of the conference, including its name, dates, and venue. A "Note Verbal" is an official letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirming the organization’s request for the visa.

    Processing Time Applications should be submitted at least three days prior to your intended arrival. Under normal conditions, processing takes three days.

    Duration and Validity The visa's validity begins from the intended date of entry to Ethiopia.

    Application Fee The fee for a single-entry, 30-day conference visa is 52 USD.

    Extension The Workshop/Conference Visa cannot be extended.
